As a passionate community health educator, certified lifestyle coach and certified diabetes care and education specialist, I have been helping communities, especially underserved and children and adolescents to understand the importance of Chronic Disease prevention at its early stage of development. I have been teaching Asthma self management and Diabetes self management and Diabetes Prevention to various age groups at schools, afterschool programs, libraries, YMCAs, special needs communities etc.
I have been Utilizing the vehicle of service learning and collaborative, experiential and community engaged learning for undergraduate teaching & training in cultural competency, experiential workshops/practicum for public health and patient navigation curriculum initiatives that promote equality and justice for all regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion or physical ability.
