ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for this program, and I'm especially grateful to Dr. Inuka for continuing it through the pandemic (via Zoom). It helped me lose 50 lbs. and lower my A1c from the pre-diabetic range to normal. While I had done some work before starting the program, the support and accountability from the group helped me stay on track. I look forward to the next half of the program, when I expect to meet even more goals and develop good habits that will last for a lifetime. Our health is priceless and one of the only things we can't buy, so I plan to take care of mine!
DeleteI attended most sessions of diabetes prevention program offered by MIDHA CLINIC. It was great to be part of group where people brought in everyday challenges in terms of their food habits and overall lifestyle. The instructor, Dr. Inuka, provided easy to follow paper work and instructions that helped reinforce many important aspects of prevention like- what are the challenges, what will one do to overcome them, activity and food log etc. No long term goals or big commitments; just small steps and weekly goal. This made the progress consistent and visible. The group met every week so everyone felt well supported and well guided by Dr. Midha who conducted the sessions with full passion. She brought in healthy treats too :). We all had good information and good time! Thank you Dr. Midha. Continue the great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dr. Roopa for your nice feedback.
DeleteA Participant who lost 10 lbs in 16 weeks: Dr. Shahana says:
ReplyDeleteHealth is a treasure and hearing anything negative about health can be devastating. I always waited eagerly for the day in the week to attend this Diabetes Prevention Program. Most important thing about this program I liked is it does not expect big changes but taking small steps towards a great healthy lifestyle and accountability makes one to remain active and healthy. Based on knowledge gained through our group meetings and discussions, I gradually gave up white rice and learnt to do portion control. I felt better trying to follow healthy eating advice & regular exercise, and the interaction with all the members in the program was very interesting. Each one discussing their own challenges and how they overcame them through this program. Mr. Bob was a great motivator and a competitor to keep our numbers low in terms of reaching the goal of obtaining 5 to 7 % reduction in our starting weight, especially when I heard how his numbers went low on the weighing machine every single week. This program has given an insight about exercising and eating right. Ms. Inuka was very encouraging and a great facilitator in providing good interaction among the members.
National Diabetes Prevention Program At Midha Medical Cinic
ReplyDeleteMy name is Bob Castro and last night, myself and several other people, completed the first phase (16 weekly sessions) of the National Diabetes Prevention Program At Midha Medical Cinic.
On October 13, 2017 I attended the first session and I was not happy. A few weeks before, I received a letter stating that I was at risk for developing Type II Diabetes based on test results.
I was invited to enroll in a pilot program to delay or prevent Type II Diabetes by changing my lifestyle and eating habits under the supervision of Dr. Inuka Midha.
A third of a year later, I am now 15 pounds lighter and much wiser for having accepted her invitation.
I can say with complete confidence that if you have been diagnosed as prediabetic (as I was) this is the perfect place to embark on the next, and possibly the most important, part of your own health journey.
You will hear about calories, carbohydrates, insulin, fat grams and exercise minutes. But equally important, you will hear each other's stories and participate in the ups and downs of taking control of your blood sugar before it takes control of you.
You will, as I have, come to examine, evaluate and voluntarily modify your eating and exercise decisions in light of recent research and the hard but still achievable choices we all face every day. Managing Stress, eating well, tracking your activity, coping with unhealthy triggers and staying motivated are just some of the topics Dr. Inuka will cover with you in future sessions. The time and effort you choose to put into this course is well worth the small sacrifices called for to avoid the potentially fatal disease of diabetes.
In the past, I grudgingly exercised. Although I knew it was good for me, I disliked the physical discomfort and inconvenience that were unavoidable parts of the process.
Now, thanks to the encouragement and accountability which comes from this course, I look forward to checking the weather forecast to see when the optimum times are to go walking. I have more energy, less stress and greater comfort than ever before and the credit belongs to this course.
In the fight against disease and to promote health, we understandably tend to focus on amounts, durations and other quantifiable measurements. But having spent two seasons in this course, I can now say that learning each other's stories and sharing each other's trials and successes is an equal takeaway with the medical information and outcomes.
Thanks to Dr. Inuka, I can now count as friends, Miss Agnes and her own great recipes, Dr. Shahana and her experience and wisdom from India, Mr. Ricky's sense of humor as we both try to create time to exercise and Miss Tamika with her stories from New York and words of encouragement.
You may think that attending a course such as this will be to alter various technical parameters in your blood chemistry, and indeed those are important results. But the real value is as subtle as it is unmistakable. To reach out to those around us to receive encouragement and also give encouragement.
After all, strangers are just friends that you are meeting for the first time.
At the Midha Medical Clinic National Diabetes Prevention Program, you will be introduced to your new group of friends.
Bob Castro.
Thank you Mr. BOb for this letter to our future potential
DeleteParticipants of this life (style) changing program! We appreciate your feedback and your dedication to this cause. Also many congratulations to you for winning the “Biggest Loser” Award. You Rock ... Stay Healthy forever.
A Participant who lost 8 pounds Ms. Tamika mentioned this about the program:
ReplyDeleteTo me, this class causes what I'll call "therapeutic weight loss". More than the science of healthy eating and increased physical activity (2 main goals of this program), the mental challenges of weight loss are also importantly discussed in this class. Dr. Inuka has been so passionate, sincere, transparent, and non-judgmental. She opened the door for us to freely express our stressors such as family barriers, loneliness, workload, or the loss of a loved one. Once identified and expressed, we were able to cheer and encourage each other and network to work towards our goals that we created every week to support the weight loss and preventing T2 diabetes. We've shared healthy foods, and walked and talked together week after week and the weight came off. In a word, this class is "invaluable". What a positive lifestyle influence for me. Thank You. ......Tamika Morrison
I am very glad I joined the National Diabetes Prevention program offered at Midha Medical Clinic (i joined on May 2018). I learned a lot in this program. I am an RN (Registered Nurse) but I spent most of my career working in the NICU (Neo natal Intensive Care Unit) and not with adults. In this program, I learned the importance of tracking my food intake and also tracking my physical activity. I also had to learn how to mot stress junk food eater. I am still having to continue to work on being mindful of everything I eat even if it is only one bite. Making weekly goals really did help me. I always what I had to do each week to make my life better. I started working on my eating first like less bread, less sweets and less carbs. I have learned how to try to still eat most of everything but in moderation. I don’t deny myself anything but I try to weigh if I really have to have it or if I can do without it. The hardest part for me was incorporating the exercise. I don’t really like exercise. I have learned that I can do it and that walking is enjoyable. I can relieve a lot of stress when I walk on trails and I get to enjoy nature and I think when I walk. I learned how to reset my goals every week to accomplish my goal of a healthier life.
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the program was the small group setting. Inuka wasn’t just a teacher, she is more like a partner. It is very encouraging getting together with strangers who are also facing some of the same risks of developing a long term chronic health disease such as diabetes. We are all striving to improve our health through this prevention program and possible reverse it to normal condition again through these lifestyle modifications that we learn in this program. We continue to help each other with suggestions and encouragement. We are all learning how to improve our physical and mental health through hard work and commitment to improving our overall health.
I've completed the first, weekly, phase of the pre-diabetes program and am now well into the monthly, second phase. The results were slow but steady, and I have now taken off about 7% of my original weight. I needed to break some bad habits and develop some new, good ones. This program targets those concerns, which are notably different for each individual. There is no one size fits all. Nor are there any pressures to lose weight, but rather steady encouragement and each participant's self-analysis of what they need to do to get there. Dr. Inuka's passion for this program and sincere compassion for the participants makes it not a chore but rather a joy to come to, as the results, pretty much exactly as predicted, make it so.
ReplyDeleteWe've all seen all too many people these days developing T2 diabetes, with all its accompanying complications. Participants recognize that that could well be our future unless we do something about it. This program, under Dr. Inuka's professional and compassionate guidance, enables most any reasonably motivated person to achieve that sensible weight loss, that reduction in A1c, and a future free from worry of getting diabetes. It's not a magic bullet, or any trendy short term fix, but rather a well designed program that should be able to aid most anyone with this issue get themselves and their bodies back into the safe zone and keep it there.
THANK YOU MR. BARRY. Glad you liked the program at Midha Medical Clinic. We are fortunate to have such wonderful participants as you.
DeleteI am profoundly grateful to Dr. Inuka Midha, Dr. Raju Midha (for recommending me to the program) and to the supportive staff at Midha Medical Clinic. They offered me a "life changing" opportunity to learn how my lifestyle choices have influenced my health. "Dr. Inuka's" compassion for our class participants and her determination for us to see the seriousness of pre-diabetes, was most compelling. Her personal stories allowed us the space to open up about our own fears and concerns. I can't recommend this class highly enough! It has benefits for everyone!

ReplyDeleteI am a student at Emory University and had the opportunity to observe one of Dr. Inuka Midha’s classes. I had a great time learning about the program and hearing from participants. One of my favorite aspects of the class was how interactive it was! By fostering a judgment-free and supportive atmosphere, Dr. Inuka paved the way for an open and honest conversation. Even on a virtual platform, everyone on the call was actively engaged and happy to participate. By attending even just one session, I could see how impactful and beneficial this course is. Committing oneself to Dr. Inuka’s program is one of the best steps a prediabetic individual can take for their own wellbeing.
ReplyDeleteI had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Inuka Midha's Diabetes Prevention Class and was inspired by the work she does. She has an impressive ability to educate while actively involving participants. The highly interactive nature of the class fostered an accepting environment that allowed participants to reflect on their lifestyle habits and come up with ideas to reach their individual goals. If you are considering this program, I highly recommend giving it a try! You will not regret taking the time to learn from and alongside Dr. Midha.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you sharing this article post. Really looking forward to read more. Awesome.SprinJene
ReplyDeleteI found this program very helpful in meeting my goal of loosing 10 pounds in helping to prevent my type 2 diabetes. I addition many very helpful ideas were presented to assist in my effort to deal with all my goals related to decreasing my risk associated to diabetes.
ReplyDeleteI found this program very helpful in providing the structure I needed to
ReplyDeletemeet my goals in loosing weight to fight Type 2 diabetes. I was able to
reach my goal of loosing 10 pounds. Program also gave me many good ideas
in dealing with prediabetes. I am very grateful for this program..
The program offers a series of essential resources that provides the necessary information, encouragement and explains the overall benefits of making life-style changes that reduced my risk from being classified as pre-diabetic. I have already reversed my prediabetes in first 10 weeks of joining the program.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the key-elements of the program was establishing modest but achievable goals for weight loss (5-7%); maintaining a sustainable activity-level for aerobic, strength and stretching exercises (200 -250 minutes/week); making better eating choices (less sugar, less salt, more fruits/vegetables); and identifying fulfilling activities to improve personal relationships.
The program’s format provided a ‘friendly’ framework that encouraged me to be more accountability to the program and its members.
Additionally, the resources provided by Dr. Midha were invaluable.
There was always a ‘word’ of encouragement or something to learn from the other member’s experience.
